Overclocking, techniques for increasing your computer's performance

WinCooler

WinCooler detects when the CPU is not in use, sending a command to the processor to put it in rest mode.

A colder processor lasts much longer. A higher CPU temperature produces interior deterioration in the form of electromigration and reduces internal conductibility, so causing errors.

The program can work as an icon on the task bar.

NB:
Both this and other utilities stop being effective when one or more programs make intensive use of the processor, which means that if you overclock your CPU, it may be necessary to improve the cooling of the microprocessor.
